BRIEFING TERRI
Flat Vernacular: How would you describe your style?
Terri Ricci: Sophisticated approach with timeless style that is relaxed and comfortable for living.
FV: Where do you find everyday inspiration?
TR: All around me but my guilty pleasure would be social media or books on the weekend when I take free time!
FV: What’s currently inspiring you?
TR: Paint and plaster. The last few years we have been painting rooms all one-color including trim, windows, and doors and just varying the sheen but lately I have been exploring darker trim and lighter walls. I have this need to create more character in a space. It’s not about it just feeling more modern. I am looking to create some history or a mood.

FV: Which design trends are you most excited about now?
TR: Long lead times are back! We need to lead our clients to understand design is a process and we need to allow time to design it and create it!
FV: A design piece you’re currently coveting?
TR: Eny Lee Parker Twisted Side Table and Danish Modern Wing Chairs. I am really into higher back chairs lately!
FV: What’s a design item you can’t live without?
TR: Trays - especially ceramic ones. Or any way I can get them. I love organization.
FV: Best piece of design advice?
TR: Stay open minded. Mistakes can be a good thing and listen to your clients’ needs but develop with your own point of view. Often designers will listen and just do what a client says. Remember they hired you for your style and it’s our job to guide them to the best decisions.
FV: What’s your favorite piece from Flat Vernacular?
TR: Nimbo wallpaper was my favorite for awhile but I am currently loving Burma! Ferns are one of my favorite plants.
FV: Favorite Color?
TR: Tough one…I love all jewel tone colors but if I had to pick one it would be green!
FV: Favorite cocktail?
TR: Typically, a classic Gin & Tonic but since COVID, I am all about craft cocktails and ending with an Espresso Martini, “my dessert of choice.”
